I’ve written a number of posts about income inequality and discovered today that the U. S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Achievement in Filmmaking at the Sundance Film Festival went to a documentary called Inequality for All. This was highlighted in a Guardian review Inequality for All – another Inconvenient Truth?.
The documentary is actually about Robert Reich who is currently the Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. Robert Reich has apparently been talking about income inequality for the last 30 years and has been pointing out that the real wealth creators are the middle class, who not only do much of the work but also buy many of the things that are produced. It is the middle class who drive economic growth, not those who are richest. I won’t go into any more detail as the short video below is him explaining – quite convincingly – why we should raise taxes in the rich. Enjoy!
